Quickly connect wireless LoRa sensors to a building management system with the new MCS LoRa-2-GBS Gateway
The new MCS LoRa-2-GBS Gateway enables wireless LoRa sensors to be connected to an (existing) building management system (BMS) in no time. This allows users to easily set up an integrated Smart Building solution. The LoRa sensors are connected to the Gateway via, for example, a BACnet IP or Modbus protocol. Two variants are available, namely the LoRa-2-GBS Ethernet Gateway and the LoRa-2-GBS LTE Gateway.
Benefit from the advantages of wireless LoRa in existing building management systems
By adding wireless sensors to a BMS, users enjoy the benefits of their BMS and all the advantages of battery-powered sensors. This means that no wired infrastructure needs to be installed. This is an advantage for locations where wiring is not an option. Such as monumental buildings or buildings with an existing infrastructure. In addition, the batteries of wireless sensors have a long lifespan. This makes these sensors very sustainable in use.

The figure above shows a schematic representation of the architecture of the LoRa-2-GBS Gateway with BACnet IP protocol.
Five technologies come together in one smart Gateway
The MCS LoRa-2-GBS Gateway combines five different technologies. For example, it functions as a LoRa Base station with an internal LoRaWAN server. This allows users to set up a Private LoRa network. In addition, the Gateway takes care of the payload conversion of the sensors. This way, users do not have monthly costs for an external payload conversion server.
The Gateway communicates with the building management system via BACnet IP, Modbus, Mbus or P1 protocol. Users can also connect their IoT or application platform to the LoRa-2-GBS Gateway via MQTT or other protocols.
This smart API link with the application server allows end customers to quickly analyze and manage their data at all times. Users can optionally opt for Secure VPN. This gives them secure remote access to their LoRa-2-GBS Gateway and/or the underlying GBS.
Future-proof solution for increasing demand for data
Managers increasingly want to gain insight into the condition and use of a building. This greatly increases the demand for data. The LoRa-2-GBS Gateway provides building managers with easy insight into how their building functions for users. By analyzing the measured data, they can manage their building and processes increasingly smarter and more efficiently.
With smart building management, also called Smart Building, many different applications are possible. For example, the air quality (CO2, temperature and humidity) can be monitored. This leads to more working comfort due to a good indoor climate. In addition, the workplace occupancy can be better managed. This allows the ideal workplace to be created. Better energy management creates climate-neutral workplaces. This leads to energy savings.
About MCS
Making complex technology simple. That is our mission. This way, everyone can use innovative IoT solutions without worries. And since our foundation in 1997, we have been making people's daily work and lives easier, safer and more sustainable.
We do this by working together with carefully selected partners. We support them in setting up and delivering successful Managed loT solutions and secure Private networks. In this way, our years of expertise are combined with the knowledge of partners in many different sectors. We also offer the necessary hardware and software components for these networks.
