SEGGER, a leader in embedded systems and development tools, has announced the release of Flasher BitStreamer, a new software solution that significantly expands the programming capabilities of its industry-leading Flasher family of in-system programmers (ISPs). This advancement introduces SEGGER Flasher FPGA programming capabilities, transforming the Flasher into a truly universal device.
With the introduction of Flasher BitStreamer, SEGGER Flashers transcend their traditional role of programming microcontrollers and (Q)SPI flashes, now incorporating a broad range of Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and Complex Programmable Logic Devices (CPLDs).
Streamlining the FPGA Configuration Workflow
Historically, configuring FPGAs often necessitated the use of separate, dedicated tools and programmers, contributing to a complex and time-consuming setup process. Flasher BitStreamer is designed to simplify and streamline this workflow dramatically.
The software converts standard FPGA configuration files, specifically Serial Vector Format (SVF) and Standard Test and Programming Language (STAPL) files, into a compact, self-contained programming package. This package can then be copied directly to a SEGGER Flasher unit or exported as a ready-to-use ZIP archive, completing the preparation in a matter of secondsThis approach eliminates the need for complex scripting, translating to a faster, hassle-free, and uncompromising production environment.
