On September 24, FHI will organize a seminar during WoTS on the challenges and applications of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Four leading speakers will share their experiences with IoT within industrial processes and provide concrete tools for its application.

IIoT offers great opportunities for tech entrepreneurs. By digitally connecting devices and systems, companies can real time insight into their production processes. Threatening technical problems can be remedied preventively. This leads to cost savings, better performance, satisfied customers and ultimately to competitive advantage.

Lightning fast
But the rapid digitalization of the industry also poses challenges for the sector, for example around data management, interoperability and security. The seminar focuses on the most important IIoT issues.

Jay Nagdeo from Acal BFI will kick things off with a talk on the rise of battery-free solutions in IoT. He will discuss the advantages of green energy sources over batteries in IoT devices. And there are quite a few: longer lifespan, less maintenance and a lower impact on the environment.

Step-by-step plan
Paul Melis, on behalf of HMS Networks, talks about the important role of data management. IIoT generates enormous amounts of data that need to be managed and analyzed. During his presentation, Melis shares a step-by-step plan that his company uses and that his audience can start working with right away.

After the break, Diederick Nab from WAGO will provide an overview presentation on the latest trends and technologies in a production environment (OEM), such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Exciting
The seminar is concluded by Klaas Wijbeng (Weidmüller) and Jeroen Wijnands (Orange Cyberdefense) who pose the provocative question to their audience whether IIoT is the end of your problems, or the beginning. IIoT seems to be the solution to use data from production processes more intelligently, but is that really the case? And what about Nis2?

Register for seminar
After the lectures there is time for discussion and networking with like-minded people and specialists in the field. Are you curious? View the complete programme on the WoTS 2024 website and register for free for the fair and seminar.
