Micro Motion Systems
Slotless and coreless motors – ironless armature technology
In this motor series from our partner Moons, a patented ironless armature winding is used. The advantage of this special design is the high power density, higher speeds, high torques and low noise levels. In addition, the engines have no cogging. All this results in smoother movement at both lower and higher speeds, precise control behavior and higher efficiency.
Coreless DC brushed motors
Moons' ironless armature motors deliver excellent performance, simplifying control and regulation. This series consists of 6 different motors in diameters 8mm, 10mm, 13mm, 16mm, 17mm and 24mm. The speeds can reach approximately 18,000 rpm. Combined with a gearbox, the torques can be increased and the speeds reduced. The encoder is used for precise speed control or positioning. These motors are the perfect choice for small applications such as pipettes, spectrophotometers, sample pretreatment platforms, precision balances, micro diaphragm pumps and other medical or analytical equipment.

Slotless brushless DC motors
A huge improvement of Slotless Brushless DC motors is their long lifespan of up to 20,000 hours due to the absence of wear-sensitive parts. Actually, it only concerns the bearings that also determine the maximum speeds. There are 3 “standard” versions available in diameters 13mm, 16mm and 22mm and with speeds up to 27600rpm. The high speed version is available in diameters 16mm and 22mm with speeds up to almost 50,000rpm.
Features & Benefits
- Ironless armature winding
- Compact design
- Long lifespan
- No cogging
- No sparking
- 3 different diameters (13, 16 and 22mm)
- 7 different windings (6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36 and 48V)
- Up to 60,000rpm (ball bearing)

Planetary gearboxes
All slotless and almost all coreless DC motors can be combined with a planetary transmission. Ceramic shafts are used in the output stage to extend service life by a factor of 2 to 3. This gearbox is available in sizes 8mm, 10mm, 13mm, 16mm and 22mm where a maximum nominal torque of 0.8 Nm can be achieved for the 4-stage PG22C gearbox.
Encoder
The slotless and coreless DC motors can also be equipped with magnetic or optical encoders. They are available with 2 or 3 channels and a line driver. The resolution starts with 12 pulses (48 quad counts) with a maximum of 256 pulses (1024 quad counts).
