KNX Netherlands is publishing a white paper especially for consultants, installers and system integrators who want to work with KNX in HVAC installations. The white paper provides answers to questions about the why of KNX for climate installations and how KNX can be used. The document provides more clarity for everyone about the possibilities of KNX in combination with these so-called HVAC installations.

KNX Netherlands makes the whitepaper, entitled 'Heating, cooling, ventilation with KNX', available for free download on Smart Inside. This way, anyone who wants to know more about the role of KNX in HVAC installations can access this information without restrictions.

Energy savings through KNX

The white paper that discusses the relationship between KNX and HVAC installations discusses, among other things, the role that automation of climate installations can play in saving energy consumption in buildings and homes. For example, an integral building automation system based on KNX ensures that a building can meet the highest Energy Performance Class according to the European standard EN 15232.

Connecting protocols

Various examples of how you can use KNX technology in the application of room controls for climate installations can be viewed in the white paper. The collaboration of KNX with other protocols is also discussed. In many cases, the optimization of technical functions in one or more buildings requires cooperation between installation systems that use different languages (protocols). Connecting these protocols via so-called gateways has therefore been described in detail.

Safety and sensors

Another topic covered in the KNX whitepaper is remote control of a building or home. This method of building automation leads to greater insight and therefore awareness of functions, energy use and safety. The white paper focuses on the safe realization of remotely controlled KNX installations. Furthermore, the document provides a comprehensive overview of the various climate and environmental sensors that KNX manufacturers supply and that are necessary for HVAC installations to function properly. Sensors for weather conditions and air quality in particular appear to be essential for the correct operation of these installations.

Free download

The whitepaper is available as a free download on Smart Inside; the community for everyone active in the world of smart buildings and homes. In addition to the white paper, you will also find the digital brochure with an elaboration of various examples for the application of KNX in combination with HVAC installations.
