At the end of May, the Dutch government awarded a subsidy of approximately half a million euros to the Health Innovation Initiative Holland 2019 – 2023. This is an initiative in which several UMCs, interest groups and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport work together on new health innovations.

The Health Innovation Initiative Holland platform (HI-NL) must provide a new national infrastructure that will advise entrepreneurs and the healthcare sector on medical technology. In addition, it will also provide methodological research into better evaluations that can result in new medical evaluation standards.

The HI-NL is a public-private partnership that aims to improve and scale up innovations in medical technology. There are currently more than half a million medical devices and just as many health apps in use. The organization wants to make this more effective, effective and affordable. The initiative comes from a large number of Dutch organizations and is chaired by professors Maroeska Rovers (RadboudUmc) and Carl Moons (UMC Utrecht).
