Supply Chain Disruptions Affect Everyone; Join the Conversation on June 16!
On Thursday June 16 we organize an interactive meeting for all members of the Industrial Electronics industry about the current disruptions in our supply chain.
Every electronics company is currently dealing with it; component shortages coupled with long delivery times, material shortages, logistical challenges and the current geopolitical tensions. All this is creating a tense market, with the prices of components, materials, energy/gas and transport skyrocketing.
In the meantime, European initiatives have been launched (e.g. Chips Act) to prevent the same problems from recurring in the long term. From our clusters Development Club, Components, EMS and Test & Measure this afternoon, presentations are scheduled that provide insight into the current issues and provide tools to get through this time as well as possible. Think of topics such as redesigns, obsolescence management, communication and supply chain management.
We will of course look to the future together and conclude with a brainstorming session.
Program
Reception 12:30 pm with lunch
1:00 PM Creative re-design (3D printing, stamps, alternative parts etc.)
Raditeq uses thousands of different components in its product portfolio. In the last quarter, hundreds of components had issues! Patrick Dijkstra discusses creative re-design (3D printing, stamps, alternative parts, etc.) and how companies have tackled or can tackle these issues.
Patrick also explains how the component problems were tackled at:
• L3C Nutrition Regulators
• Custom cables
• Power supply cards RadiCenter (without 5V), custom mechanics
• TFT screens RadiCenter
The importance of validating modifications will also be discussed and insight will be provided into the issues involved in early detection of problems (reconfirmations, monitoring at/of production companies).
Patrick Dijkstra, Raditeq
1:30 PM “Strategic sourcing during and after global shortage. To buy or not to buy”
Global shortages have caused massive disruptions in supply chains of almost all electronic manufacturers. Customers have to rely more and more on an independent market, but it's difficult to make decisions in conditions of pressure, uncertainty and extremely high prices. This presentation will cover the process of working with independent distribution – quality standards to consider, how to structure requirements and make decisions – key factors to succeed in unstable market.
We will also talk about market forecast and potential post shortage challenges – obsolescence and excess inventory management.
Liza Emelianenkova, Converge
2:00 PM Component shortage – How can we as a chain limit risks and position ourselves for the future? Communication, transparency and innovation are the key words!
Previous cycles of component shortages used to last about 18 months. However, in the last two years, many factors have come together in “the perfect storm”. The end is not yet in sight.
High demand, long and complex production processes and extreme external factors have a major impact on the availability of components from almost all product groups.
The question arises as to how our chain in the Netherlands can limit the damage and position itself well for the future.
Communication, transparency and innovation are the key words.
Wilfred Poot, Future Electronics
2:30 pm Presentation on supply chain challenges in other industries/markets
How can you deal with a supply chain with scarcity?
What are possible solutions in the search for new resources?
How could you respond more flexibly as an entire chain?
Speaker follows
3:00 PM Brainstorm and Q&A
4:00 PM Closing and drinks
