This year, no fewer than 14 entries will compete for the World of Automation's TechAward 2022. With extra attention to sustainability this year, with a separate Green Tech Award. On the website of the WoTS you can already vote for your favorite innovation. We will explain a number of entries in each of the upcoming newsletters. This time the modular platform for electrical and pressure calibrations Metis from Tradinco, the contactless transfer technology NearFi from Phoenix Contact and the Vaisala Inline Biogas Analyzer from Elscolab.

Metis: an innovative modular platform for electrical and pressure calibrations

Metis – developed by Tradinco – is an innovative modular platform for both electrical and pressure calibrations, which is integrated into a test bench. Various precise measurement and calibration modules can be added to the main module based on users' needs. The main module automatically detects the modules that are connected loosely or firmly, without having to go through complicated configuration steps. This makes Metis easy to customize and combines ease of use, versatility and flexibility. This provides a better way to perform calibrations in a workshop or laboratory.

NearFi: contactless real-time transmission of energy and data through an air gap of a few centimeters

NearFi from Phoenix Contact enables the transmission of energy and real-time data through an air gap of a few centimeters. Through protocol-independent and latency-free Ethernet communication, this technology offers flexible usage options for all Ethernet protocols up to 100 Mbit/s. This allows connectors or slip rings in industrial applications, which are sensitive to wear, to be easily replaced and downtime costs are minimized. For example, NearFi technology contributes to saving on high-quality materials in robotization, for example.

NearFi has also been nominated for the Green Tech Award.

Vaisala Inline Biogas Analyzer: simultaneous and continuous measurement of CH4, CO2 and H2O in biogas and biomethane

The VAISALA MGP260 series biogas analyzers from Escolab are the only analyzers that measure the three most important parameters, CH4, CO2 and H2O, simultaneously, inline and continuously in biogas and biomethane. When using these analyzers, no sampling system is required and moisture does not have to be removed as with other analyzers. The moisture content is important information to extend the life of the installation. It is also an important factor in the determination of the CH4 concentration. The VAISALA biogas analyzers thus contribute to better and more stable biogas and biomethane production and higher gas quality with fewer impurities.

The Vaisala inline Biogas Analyzer also participates in the Green TechAward.

Vote now for your favorite innovation
Until August 31, you can vote for your favorite innovation in the online TechAward gallery. In addition, an expert jury assesses the innovations. The 4 nominees per category are determined based on the visitor votes and the jury report. These four nominees may present their innovation on the exhibition floor, where visitors can vote for the ultimate winner.
