Remotely controlled IoT solutions are increasingly being used. A good platform for remote management of this IoT equipment must therefore remain up to date and meet the dynamic needs of the customer.
That's why it has Remote Management System (RMS) from Teltonika recently had an update, version 4.0. These are not major changes, but a number of new features and quality improvements have been implemented, making it easier and more efficient to use. Below we go through the most important changes.
New features RMS 4.0
Multi-config: This new feature allows you to configure individual Teltonika Networks device settings directly via RMS, without having to access the device WebUI. This is a huge upgrade from how device settings configuration worked previously, where all changes were deployed together with backup uploads.
With RMS 4.0, the individual settings that you personally want to change can be easily changed without affecting other settings. Multi-config also provides a list of suggested settings when you start typing the name during the search. It also directly identifies and reports pushed configuration errors for analysis. Multi-config is only compatible with devices using firmware version 7.3 or higher.
Custom templates: With multi-config you can now create custom device configuration templates so that the exact same changes can be applied quickly and easily to selected and future devices. In addition to greatly simplifying configuration, it also makes migration from older to newer devices easier, even if the devices are of a different model.
Device recognition and secure parameter upload: When migrating from one device to another using Multi-config, RMS 4.0 will recognize the interchangeable, compatible, and incompatible settings of the new device and will not attempt to configure unsupported features.
UI Updates
The updated user interface makes using the platform easier and more efficient. Below we will discuss the most important changes with you.
Improved filtering: The Filter tab, where you can easily add, change or remove filter settings, is now available at the top of the device window. In addition, the number of clicks has been reduced to achieve the necessary settings.
RMS Connect protocol menus: Previously, RMS Connect had separate sub-menus for each protocol. With this update, the HTTP(S), SSH, Telnet and SFTP protocols, as well as Remote Desktop, are now available in one sub-menu: Remote Access.
They can also be filtered within sub-menus. The only one that keeps its own menu is Remote mobile devices.
Centralized management: Managing your devices, users, tags, files, codes and more was previously spread across several menus.
With RMS 4.0 they are now in one location: Management.
