The Dutch EMC-ESD Association came together again in Vianen for the EMC-ESD event. Despite the corona troubles, more than a hundred visitors came to Hotel van der Valk Vianen.

Theo Smedes (NXP Semiconductors) opened the day with a lecture about the Industry Council on ESD Target Levels. This council has been in existence for 15 years and during his story Smedes provided an overview of developments and a look into the future.

The second keynote came from Vincent Tilgenkamp. He talked about the electromagnetic interference that can occur during major events, such as the Eurovision Song Contest.

Patrick Dijkstra (Raditeq), among others, spoke during the plenary program. He talked about how a CI system works and what the consequences can be if a product has not been properly tested for the CI/EMC aspect. Joost van Heijenoort (AR Benelux) gave a lecture about measuring receivers. These could also be seen on the demo square where various live demonstrations were held by the exhibitors. Lex van Huuksloot (Telerex) talked about the usefulness of absorbers, while Christian Reimer (Rohde & Schwarz) discussed EMI.

The event was closed by Ernst Schrama from TU Delft. He spoke about the interference disturbances that can arise from PV installations and related high-frequency sources. Schrama outlined that there are good opportunities to significantly improve reception on the HF bands.

The EMC-ESD meeting was again a success. The next edition will be held in 2023. Stay tuned.
