SCHEER advice on revised EU Recommendation and EU Directive for EMF exposure
On 14 June 2023, the final version of the 'Opinion on the need for a revision of the annexes in the Council Recommendation 1999/519/EC and Directive 2013/35/EU, with regard to radiofrequency (100kHz – 300GHz)' was published on the Public Health website of the European Union. The new ICNIRP recommendation partly provides new values for the limits for electromagnetic fields to which people may be exposed, and is an improvement for (5G) mobile equipment that is not yet on the market. Precautionary Policy for Magnetic Fields in Electricity Supplies
At the end of April 2023, the Minister for Climate and Energy, also on behalf of the Minister for Housing and Spatial Planning, informed the competent authority (municipalities, provinces and the central government) and the electricity grid operators by letter about the recalibration of the precautionary policy for magnetic fields in the electricity network. The letter provides advice on how to deal with the possible health risks of magnetic fields.
