Source: VNO-NCW/MKB-Nederland We received this warning from the Fraud Help Desk: A false invoice from BUMA-STEMRA has been sent that appears deceptively genuine. In May this year, the Fraud Help Desk also warned about a ghost bill, under the name of Desk Stemra. This ghost bill is making the rounds again, but now features the Buma-Stemra logo and therefore looks more real. The invoice is virtually a copy of the fraudulent invoices that were recently sent in the name of Bureau Stemra. Only this time they are falsely provided with the logo and Chamber of Commerce number of the real Buma-Stemra, the music rights organization. This time the bank account number is an Austrian number: AT28 1200 0501 7600 2723. According to a spokesperson for Buma-Stemra, the invoice is deceptively real, but it is indeed a ghost invoice, a fake invoice for which there is no payment obligation. Buma-Stemra itself also warns about this on the website. An example of the fake invoice is the see on https://www.fraudehelpdesk.nl/alerts/valse-factuur-bumastemra-bedrieglijk-echt/ (click on the reduced image of the invoice).
