VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland are organizing five regional information meetings about the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This regulation replaces the current Personal Data Protection Act (Wbp). From May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation applies throughout the EU. All companies and organizations that work with personal data will have to prepare for this GDPR. The GDPR builds on the content of the Wbp, but intensifies and expands privacy rights. Companies and organizations are also given more responsibilities. The European privacy regulators, such as the Dutch Data Protection Authority, will have the option to impose stiff fines for violations.
During the information meetings there will be presentations from the Dutch Data Protection Authority, VNO-NCW, MKB-Nederland and an entrepreneur who is currently working on the implementation. They discuss, among other things, what the most important principles of the GDPR are for protection and compliance, on what grounds a company or organization may process personal data, what a Privacy Impact Assessment is, when a processor agreement is necessary, or whether a company or organization has an official for the data protection and whether the procedures for documenting and reporting data breaches should be revised. The information meetings are held from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
