For example, Weatherproof Filters provide excellent protection for electronics that are placed in a harsh outdoor environment. The custom filters limit the ingress of dust, water and salt mist into electronic enclosures by using fresh air intake and direct air cooling systems instead of expensive, inefficient closed loop heat exchangers. This allows designers to use ambient air to cool ventilated systems, increasing efficiency and reducing operating costs compared to closed systems with limited heat removal capacity. This is the ideal solution for outside video displays and kiosks, power generators, security, defense, telecoms and any other industrial or commercial outdoor enclosures that need to operate reliably in harsh weather conditions.
The Weatherproof Filters have been developed with a unique three-stage filtration, a high-efficiency main filter and a coarse low-efficiency pre-filter with water-resistant mesh. An open-cell polyurethane foam pre-filter with a treated hydrophobic mesh layer is used to capture coarse dust particles. This reduces the majority of potential water intrusion. Furthermore, a high-efficiency primary filter is used to capture particulate matter and airborne droplets.
The Weatherproof Filters have a low pressure loss to ensure a longer filter life and a longer maintenance cycle. The filters meet industry standards for RoHS/REACH and UL flammability, IP55 and Telcordia NEBS GR-487 (salt mist).
