Elmo Quartet Servo Driver

Pocket Sized 20kW Quad Servo Driver for Robotics

At the SPS trade fair in Nuremberg, a new multi-axis drive was presented by Elmo Motion Control.
Four 5 kW servo drives on a single printed circuit board operate with one central control processor. Quartet combines the simplicity and power of centralized control with the compact size and flexibility of a decentralized servo design, small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.

This format also makes it possible to include the Quartet as an integrated system component rather than in an external enclosure. It reinforces the view that a centralized approach usually delivers high-quality multi-axis control with minimal delay, while decentralized task-specific servos have better servo loops.

The module can work autonomously, but also as a standard EtherCAT node within a network. Control is 12-80 V, 12-100 V or 12-200 V, according to Elmo, at 25-30 A continuous (50-60 A peak). The Quartet is a multi-axis drive to which 4 servo motors up to 5 kW can be connected, but it is also possible to connect 3 DC brush motors or 6 stepper motors to the drive.

The small dimensions make this drive ideal for mobile applications or projects with distributed, central control. The best of all worlds: top performance in multi-axis control, with a highly precise, safely integrated servo that operates on simple programming.
