Our energy supply in Europe is changing and the conversion to fluctuating energy sources such as wind and solar energy is being driven forward. This leads to a dynamic imbalance between active generation and load, which in turn leads to system frequency deviations and frequency stability problems in the power grid. Gas and coal-fired power plants have a long response time, which is a major challenge. One solution is energy storage using capacitors with high power and a high number of cycles to ensure frequency stability and buffer fluctuations.
