The process industry is slowly realizing that the traditional manual way of working is holding us back. We must embrace digitalization to remain competitive.

It doesn't really matter which manufacturer you work with or whether it's about safety or not, but what matters is that you start using the digitalization tools already available (step by step). Some tools have been around for over 30 years, but are often still unknown.

Automating/digitizing verification/validation tasks, among other things, is not only important for saving time, but will also contribute to greater availability and security.

About Koen de Buck:

Koen de Buck, who has worked for almost 40 years at the Dutch Nitrogen Company (NSM), Hydro Agri Sluiskil and now Yara Sluiskil BV.

Started as an instrumentation technician. Later, E&I coordinator for ammonia plants, E&I engineer for turnarounds, and since 2009, Safety Instrument Systems (SIS) Engineer. Responsible for all instrument process safety systems at Yara Sluiskil, including hardware and software, SCADA, and networks.

About Clemens van Wiggen:

For the first twenty years of his working life, he worked in graphic automation, largely as a trainer and support for engineers and sales.
His great passion is recognizing, implementing and training innovations, something Clemens has been able to do at HIMA over the past 20 years.

Digitalization in the process industry, with a focus on automation of safety testing, has received much of his attention.
In his current role as technical consultant manager, he advises both internal and external customers.
