PROFINET as the backbone for reliable automation

Bunge Loders Croklaan (BLC) is building a state-of-the-art and sustainable production facility at the Hoogtij industrial estate in Westzaan. This new facility will enable BLC to offer a broader and more innovative portfolio of vegetable oils and fats. Designed according to the latest technological standards, the facility will deliver immediate energy savings of 40% and contribute to an ambitious CO₂ reduction of 90% by 2030.

A large industrial network based on PROFINET was built for the automation of this location. Although PROFINET is a mature technology, designing and implementing these networks in practice presented several challenges.

During this presentation, Joost Neve, OT & Automation Manager Food Solutions EMEA at BLC, will share his insights into planning, designing, and implementing a robust PROFINET infrastructure. He will discuss the key design choices, principles, and lessons learned that led to a reliable and future-proof network.
