Product engineer

Tempcontrol is growing and professionalising. To strengthen our team, we're looking for an enthusiastic, practical PRODUCT ENGINEER. If you're looking for a fun, challenging role where you'll work both mentally and hands-on, then this pioneering role is perfect for you! If we had to describe you in two words, they'd be: handy and smart.
As a product engineer, you'll be closely involved in the production and product quality of our temperature sensors, as well as the quality of purchased components. You'll work in the production department, but maintain close contact with colleagues in purchasing and sales, as well as the calibration laboratory. Quality management is a key component of your role. You'll help optimize and expand our ISO-compliant quality management system.
In this role, you'll have a challenging mix of analytical and theoretical work on the computer, as well as practical hands-on work. This is a new role for our company, so we're looking for someone who wants to help establish it and quickly make themselves indispensable.

To get off to a good start with us, you'll be trained in production. You'll learn the process of turning individual parts into a complete and functional final product. Welding, (brazing) soldering, turning/milling on conventional benches, gluing, sanding, and blasting are all part of the job. You'll ask plenty of questions to fully understand the process.
In due course, after a thorough induction period, the work will expand to include product and process optimization:
• Optimize work instructions and test instructions
• Thinking about optimizing and further automating production processes
• Proposing, suggesting and guiding improvement processes
• Monitor compliance with quality requirements
• Enforce occupational health and safety regulations and ensure a safe and pleasant working environment
• Development and design of new temperature sensors
Product quality activities
A key part of your role is ensuring and, where necessary, improving product quality. This includes:
- Quality control of incoming goods
- Quality control of outgoing goods
Job requirements
- HBO work and thinking level or MBO-4 education with analytical ambitions and potential
- Technical background, expertise or affinity with technology, for example: mechanical engineering, mechatronics, industrial engineering, thermodynamics.
- Knowledge of ISO standards and application of NEN standards is an advantage
- Good command of the Dutch and English language, both spoken and written
- Communicatively capable of writing texts that are easy to read
- Good knowledge of Excel
- Affinity with automation (software applications / portals / programming / 3D modeling)
- A practical, go-getter with problem-solving skills
- Accurate and analytical, curious
- Enjoy working in a team with friendly colleagues
The product engineer works with the head and assistant head of the production department. You report directly to the director, with responsibilities including product quality.
Working conditions
We don't offer company cars, laptops, or work-from-home options. We don't offer them to anyone. You'll see your colleagues every day at work. This is a conscious choice for us. It's also an opportunity to develop yourself and be surrounded by people who take their profession very seriously and are proud of what we create and do every day. We love our work and are fully committed to it, and we expect the same from you. Naturally, our salary is competitive, and we believe it's important to share in the profits of everyone. We also offer a pension plan and plenty of vacation time. Finally, we value a pleasant work environment: we're modernizing and expanding the workshop, and we have plenty of (healthy) snacks, good coffee, tea, soft drinks, and the occasional cozy drink available.
