THE CHALLENGE TO KEEP INNOVATING… “WE HUMANS ARE A PARADOXAL SPECIES: WE ARE ABLE TO EMBRACE AND FEAR INNOVATION AT THE SAME TIME.”

On the one hand, we can be conservative and skeptical about innovations that could threaten a comfortable way of working and routinees with which we have become familiar. On the other hand, we can get excited when things improve.

A major trend that is exemplary of our approach to innovation: technology. Do we see it as a threat or as an opportunity?

It is much easier to copy something than to develop something new. Doing what we can already do takes us from 1 to 1. The key is to develop something new: that is what takes us from 0 to 1. This is the way of thinking that personally excites us. To improve, you must dare to think and act 'outside the box'. Creating something new improves quality.

Replacing existing techniques with new ones. Using new techniques that have not yet been applied to improve ergonomics, safety, technical specifications and user-friendliness.
