World of Industry Seminar
Food safety in production
Tuesday September 24 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Thomson Seminar Room in World of Industry (Hall 8)
Three exhibitors will give their vision on food safety in production. KROHNE Nederland will start the seminar with an overview in which they will discuss the principles of the food industry. We will then dive into practice using case studies. HiFlux Filtration focuses on process optimizations to produce food more safely using the Auto-line self-cleaning liquid filters in hygienic design. Tetra Pak will give a presentation as the closing event.

Instrumentation and food safety
In a sector where almost all mass products are produced on an industrial scale, accurate measurements are essential. Reliable production conditions are important, especially in a sensitive environment such as the food industry. There is a great responsibility towards the consumer, who naturally wants transparency. Measuring instruments help to guarantee consistent and reliable product quality. Hygiene is the key factor between manufacturer and consumer.

Process Optimizations for Enhanced Food Safety
Auto-line Self-Cleaning Liquid Filters in Hygienic Design: Enhancing Food Safety, Productivity, and Cost Efficiency
The food processing industry faces continuous pressure to optimize production processes. Achieving higher output, improving safety standards, and increasing cost efficiency within existing facilities are ongoing challenges. The industry seeks advanced, engineered solutions that contribute to safer and more efficient food production.
At HiFlux Filtration, we are committed to addressing these challenges. Through close collaboration with the food processing sector, we have developed Auto-line self-cleaning liquid filters, including those with a hygienic design. Our filters are engineered in accordance with EHEDG guidelines, offering suppliers a reliable solution to enhance food safety while increasing productivity and reducing operational costs.

Hygienic design challenges with plant-based products (ENG)
Hygienic design is not just important when designing components and machines but also when integrating, connecting components and machines into lines and plants. We need to consider geometry, the layout, access and cleanability of the whole installation, not just for a single component or machine. Plant-based products are more challenging than milk, often with initially higher microbiological load. They often contain particles and sometimes hard microscopical particles, diff types of proteins, enzymes, minerals, starch, and additives. A challenge to calibrate processing and cleaning parameters. That's why hygienic design is key, material selection, correct geometrical design, being drainable and with segregation to avoid mix of treated and untreated product, etc – always with intended use in mind – to facilitate cleanability. It is important to secure the integrity and prevent ingress and growth of microbes as well as accumulation of residues. We must not forget the control system, correct functionality with real time process control.
Safe and sustainable production with high effectivity, generating consistent high product quality.
