Cybersecurity can no longer be considered solely the responsibility of the factory operator. The Machinery Regulation and the Cyber Resilience Act shift responsibility to machine manufacturers and require that security be incorporated during product design.
A machine with a flat internal network relying on implicit trust cannot be sufficiently secured by relying solely on the factory perimeter. The machine requires a built-in conduit that controls communication between the machine and the surrounding production network.
This presentation explains how built-in network segmentation helps machine builders limit communication to intended data streams, secure remote access, improve visibility, and support compliance. Participants will learn why a secure network architecture must become an integral part of machine design—something you manage in the design phase, not something you only resolve under pressure from a regulator.
