Development Club

The Development Club (also known as DevClub) is a network of approximately sixty technical development companies with specialized knowledge of mechatronics, sensors, embedded software, and industrial design. The goal of the cluster members is to share knowledge and thus arrive at successful solutions more quickly.

DevClub members organize annual themed meetings and lectures at trade fairs and events. The cluster is a standard presence with a pavilion at the WoTS and E&A tech fairs.

Do you also want to be part of this active network? You can! Contact the project manager Harm Wijsman For more information.

Upcoming meeting: Quantum Sensing Testbed at TNO & QDNL

On April 8, FHI Industrial Electronics is organizing a cluster meeting at TNO in Delft. During this afternoon, you will gain insight into developments surrounding quantum sensing and computing and discover what this technology means for the electronics sector.

The meeting takes place at TNO on Stieltjesweg in Delft and combines substantive presentations with a visit to the TNO/QDNL Quantum Sensing Testbed.

What can you expect?

Quantum technology is developing rapidly and reaching an increasing number of applications in industry. During this meeting, experts from the quantum ecosystem translate these developments into practice.

You will get answers to questions such as:

  • What does quantum computing mean for developers?
  • What opportunities are arising for the electronics sector?
  • What risks and changes do you need to take into account?

The sessions have a practical approach and align with the daily practice of engineers, developers, and system architects.

Program:

12.00 - 13.00 Start with lunch

13:00 – 13:30 Introduction to the Dutch quantum ecosystem

13:30 – 14:00 Introduction of the Quantum Manufacturing Alliance (QMA) | Marike Boertien

Quantum systems markets are still in an early stage and expected to grow, both in size and maturity. The Netherlands already has world class supply chains in manufacturing, for instance in semicon. How can we capitalize on opportunities once quantum industries will develop and the manufacturing capabilities already present? The Quantum Manufacturing Alliance offers a platform to connect quantum challenges and manufacturing competences.

2:00 PM – 2:45 PM Quantum Sensing at TNO

Quantum sensing technologies are still at an early stage, but their impact on measurement, inspection, and diagnostics is expected to grow significantly in the coming year. By exploiting quantum effects, these sensors can achieve sensitivities beyond classical technologies. At TNO, we are developing and testing quantum sensing systems that are moving from the lab toward practical applications, and we will show how they can connect to industrial use cases and why early industry engagement matters.

14.45 – 15.30 Build encryption that can handle the future | Dimitri van Esch (EONcore)

Crypto-agility is the key to sustainable security:

Organizations that validate hybrid schemas now are ahead of 'Harvest Now, Decrypt Later'. System architects who migrate in a timely manner build a resilient foundation; HW engineers who reserve space for PQC keys at the next tape-out deliver hardware that remains relevant for years.

15:30 – 16:30 Visit to the Quantum Sensing Testbed (NV-Centers) and the computing testbed

16:30 – 17:30 Networking opportunity and closing

For whom?

This meeting is part of the development cluster and is also open to members of the components cluster and the test & measurement cluster. Do you work on development, design, or applications within electronics? Then this afternoon is a good fit.

DevClub Pavilion

Visitors to the WoTS or E&A trade fairs may know the Development Club from the DevClub Pavilion: a striking meeting point on the trade fair floor where multiple development companies share a space. The latest innovations are shown while enjoying a bite to eat and a drink. Very useful if you want to get to know multiple parties in the field of software and hardware in a short time.

In 2025, the pavilion can be visited during the E&A trade fair, the largest trade fair for electronics and applications in the Benelux.

Review of past cluster meetings

January 15, 2026

On January 15, 25 members of the Development Club gathered at Kiwa Netherlands in Apeldoorn for an inspiring meeting on cybersecurity. A topical theme that directly affects developers of embedded and connected devices.

The afternoon started with a presentation by Kevin Veldman (Kiwa), who took the members present through the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and its implications for developers. What does this European regulation mean specifically for your design and development process? Kevin provided clear insights and practical tools.

Next, Harm Geurink (Phoenix Contact) discussed the IEC 62443 standard. He explained the various Security Levels (SLs) and showed how they contribute to the security of industrial automation and control systems.

Following the substantive sessions, a tour of various Kiwa labs took place. From the Asphalt lab and Alternative Fuels to the RF/EMC lab, Electrical Safety lab, and the Firesafety & Security lab: an impressive glimpse into the practice of testing and certification.

We concluded the afternoon with social drinks and plenty of opportunity to exchange experiences.
Thanks to Kiwa for the hospitality and to Kevin Veldman and Harm Geurink for sharing their knowledge.

September 10, 2025
On September 10, 2025, the FHI Development Club visited TU Delft.

We started the afternoon with substantive presentations by experts full of strategies and tips to help entrepreneurs grow. Afterwards, we got a glimpse into the latest research projects at TU Delft, followed by an impressive tour of the High Voltage Lab. The afternoon concluded with a social gathering, where there was ample opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas.

Thanks to TU Delft, and in particular Pavol Bauer, for the hospitality, and to all participants for the valuable conversations. Meetings like this demonstrate how powerful it is to bring together knowledge, practice, and networking.
