On April 8, FHI Development Club members gathered at TNO for a members' meeting on quantum technology, in collaboration with Quantum Delta NL.
During the afternoon, experts from the quantum ecosystem shared their insights. The focus was on a practical question: what does quantum computing mean for developers, and what opportunities and threats exist now and in the future?
The afternoon began with a presentation by Marike Boertien about the Quantum Manufacturing Alliance (QMA). Subsequently, TNO provided insight into Quantum Sensing / the associated test facilities and Dimitri van Esch (EONcore) showed why crypto-agility is essential. Organizations currently working on post-quantum cryptography are building systems that will remain secure in the future as well.
After the presentations, participants visited the Quantum Sensing Testbed and the Computing Testbed and were introduced to practical applications. Inspired by the presentations and the tour, the members present came up with ideas for applications in products and the industry.
FHI and Quantum Delta will give the meeting a fitting follow-up, and Quantum Technology will also be one of the seminar themes at the World of Industry, Technology & Science.

On January 15, 25 members of the Development Club gathered at Kiwa Netherlands in Apeldoorn for an inspiring meeting on cybersecurity. A topical theme that directly affects developers of embedded and connected devices.
The afternoon started with a presentation by Kevin Veldman (Kiwa), who took the members present through the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and its implications for developers. What does this European regulation mean specifically for your design and development process? Kevin provided clear insights and practical tools.
Next, Harm Geurink (Phoenix Contact) discussed the IEC 62443 standard. He explained the various Security Levels (SLs) and showed how they contribute to the security of industrial automation and control systems.
Following the substantive sessions, a tour of various Kiwa labs took place. From the Asphalt lab and Alternative Fuels to the RF/EMC lab, Electrical Safety lab, and the Firesafety & Security lab: an impressive glimpse into the practice of testing and certification.
We concluded the afternoon with social drinks and plenty of opportunity to exchange experiences.
Thanks to Kiwa for the hospitality and to Kevin Veldman and Harm Geurink for sharing their knowledge.
