Ultimately, the machine builder and the factory strive for exactly the same goal: safe, uninterrupted production. However, the path to that goal can create a challenging balancing act. The machine builder wants to ensure continuity by immediately monitoring remotely in the event of problems and minimizing downtime. At the same time, the factory's IT department views every external connection as a real business risk. Driven by the enormous increase in cybercrime and the need to comply with strict legislation such as NIS2, IT focuses on strict risk management. Their 'Zero Trust' strategy leaves no room for uncontrolled access, which in practice often leads to blocked connections and frustration on both sides.
In this breakout session, we explore the path to a workable balance between these two worlds. Because reality is complex and there is no simple one-size-fits-all solution, we delve into the essential trade-offs and choices required to serve both interests. Drawing on practical experience, we discuss how to open the dialogue between IT and OT and jointly arrive at secure frameworks. You will gain insight into best practices that help reconcile the strict requirements of security and legislation with the need for fast, efficient service from the partnership.
