1:30 PM – 1:55 PM

Safety is not a new concept, and its roots can be traced back thousands of years to early principles of accountability. Yet these early approaches assumed failures were unintentional. In contrast, the domain of security introduces intentionality: systems are not only subject to failure, but to intentional manipulation. Often from outside the traditional system boundaries. This shift fundamentally challenges traditional safety thinking and reinforces the realization that, in modern interconnected and integrated systems, safety increasingly depends on security.
