Abstract: Industrial operations need remote expertise, while the consequences of disruption remain local. Secure connectivity should therefore preserve the asset owner's authority over what a remote maintenance engineer can achieve, for how long, and under whose observation.
This session explores how secure remote access and Operational Technology Software-Defined Networking (OT-SDN) can work together to make that authority enforceable. Through a practical maintenance scenario, we examine locally approved, session-specific network rules, controlled access to selected equipment, and a monitoring role that receives a copy of relevant maintenance traffic for independent inspection.
The presentation shows how programmable infrastructure can support access approval and revocation while preserving required production communications. It also addresses the implementation requirements for session identity, traffic visibility, and reliable operation. Discover an approach to secure industrial connectivity in which remote expertise supports the plant and control remains with those who carry the operational risk.
