Your building, your data

Built infrastructure has been heavily digitized in recent years. With the input of digital technology, including IoT, AI, BIM, data spaces, and EDM, this is entirely possible. This presentation indicates where we stand in this regard, within the Netherlands and Europe, but also beyond. How is our digital map of the Netherlands doing, with all buildings in 3D? How reliable is our Digital Twin, and when is the next update coming? Do our national administrations use that data? And can we zoom in on our own buildings on that map? Can we then also view the status of our solar panels via that same map? Do we see the cracks in the concrete? Or is that going too far? And what about the data of other buildings? Do I really want my building data to end up on such a web of data, and who has the right to that data? And so what, what can we do with it? Where is the return on investment; aren't we over-digitizing? This presentation provides an overview of building data (point clouds, 3D models, spreadsheets, system data, etc.), as well as how that data is used, for example in building automation, but also for the circular reuse of materials and building elements, construction site management and logistics, or for indoor robot navigation. Using examples and real-world prototypes, it demonstrates the current state of the market and the research results we can expect in the near future. The presentation explores whether and how it will become possible in the near future to 'log into your building' more easily, and to manage building data more easily and interactively over time and across a wide variety of building management systems, while maintaining appropriate security and access control.
