For the growing demand for compact LED spots with a small opening angle, Citizen has released a number of new LEDs. These are part of a new generation of high intensity LEDs with a small Light Emitting Surface (LES) diameter. In the new series, Citizen has reduced the smallest diameter from ø4.2mm to ø2.4mm.

For many applications, it is now better to use a COB instead of a power SMD. With power SMD LEDs, 1 or 4 larger dies are often used, which can then be seen in the light pattern, while Citizen has multiple smaller dies, which creates a much nicer, even light pattern at a small opening angle.

The COBs with ø3.5mm (CLU7S3) and ø2.4mm (CLU7L3) small LES diameters, have dimensions of 9.5×9.5mm and have respectively 590lm (6.4W) and 210lm (2.2W) at 3000K Ra90.
The standard series has 3 Standard Deviation Colour Matching (SDCM) and soon, for an additional charge, 2 SDCM will be possible.
