On Friday afternoon, February 2, 2024 five experts in Ahoy will speak from their own specialism about nanotechnology, quantum computers, astronomy (and signals from the Big Bang), Artificial Intelligence and the functioning of our brain.
This program takes place just after Ahoy closed the doors of 'Vrienden van Amstel Live'. It's not that different in terms of format. It will be fun, cozy and fascinating. They are different 'artists' who have very different focuses from the same field. Their products are all fascinating and that is why you will enjoy yourself.
If I mention 'Nanotechnology' at a birthday party, most people tune out. This speaker fascinates visitors to the Zwarte Cross and rightly so. Everyone is curious about what you will encounter, if you just look smaller and smaller. Then you understand that, with that knowledge, we might be able to make computers in the shape of brains.
The developments surrounding quantum computers are of great importance, because when we realize expectations we can process information a thousand times faster. 'A small quantum will make a giant leap for mankind', I think.

ASTRON has been conducting research in space for many years. The LOFAR radio telescope is composed of thousands of radio antennas and therefore observations from a large region on Earth are collected in Dwingeloo. How one does this and what one finds is simply extremely fascinating. Research into the Big Bang is therefore happening around the corner.
Meike Nauta explains the basics of Artificial Intelligence to visitors in a very accessible way. An area of research that has been taken up at many universities since the 1960s is made accessible by the speaker. With very concrete applications, possibilities and limitations.
The closing speaker Erik Scherder is publicly known. Attending a presentation by this neuropsychologist is certainly an experience. He discusses human intelligence and explicitly involves everyone in his work.
We notice that it appeals, because there are already four hundred registrations. We take into account a maximum of five hundred attendees. So don't wait too long and Sign In for a free ticket.
