Have you ever made the link between beer quality and the Hettich centrifuges?

It is undoubtedly not the first thought you have about our centrifuges, because the majority are used for blood tubes, cell culture and cytology, for example.

But did you know that the UNIVERSAL 320 also fits very well into the beer brewing process? The bitter components of beer are an important indicator of quality. It not only determines the taste of beer, but it also influences its shelf life. The bitterness of the beer and wort is therefore routinely determined as a quality control measure during process control.

What does determining bitterness with the EBC method entail?

This means that the sample to be tested must first be degassed and floating particles must be removed. Extraction is then started. Centrifugation is used for this. This prevents bitter substances from being lost during the preparation of the sample.

All HETTICH table centrifuges, but especially the UNIVERSAL 320, are ideally suited for this process.
