Citizen has developed a new high intensity led with a Light Emiting Surface (LES) diameter of only 2.4mm. The CLU7L3 measures only 9.5×9.5mm, has a Vf of 3.1V and produces over 200lm at 3000K Ra90.
Applications are in small compact directional spots where the opening angle must be as small as possible. Traditionally, these spots are built with SMD leds where it is a challenge to get the square light image homogeneously round. With this COB led is always a perfectly round light image and also with CRI Ra97.
Bender and Wirth has a connector with a diameter of 27mm available for the CLU73.
This makes the design of an optic a lot easier.
