In 2026 major changes will take place in the regulations for analyzing wastewater in the Benelux. After decades of analyzing these samples on Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD/COD) and Kjehahl (TKN), these environmental polluting analysis are replaced by the environmentally friendly TOC/TNb analysis.
In Belgium the new standard is WAC/III/D/050 and in The Netherlands NEN-ISO-20236.
The Shimadzu TOC-L and TNM-L meet the requirements needed for these standards including the cellulose test mentioned in these standards.
