René van Hartingsveldt, director of Eurotronic, is one of the speakers at the IT Infra 2024 event. He talks enthusiastically about his company and the case study he will present: Peak shaving at VodafoneZiggo.

Thanks to a stuttering Teams connection and a weak laptop battery, we are immediately deep into the subject: network connections and energy storage. René speaks passionately about his company and his presentation.

Eurotronic

For almost fifty years Eurotronic has represented a number of foreign manufacturers in the Netherlands. Traditionally Eurotronic serves the Dutch telecom & broadband companies. Over the years the company has developed and now focuses on Total Power Solutions. Eurotronic supplies emergency power solutions (UPS systems) with battery backup and energy storage systems (BESS). From large to small and for both onshore and offshore customers.

“We also do plug and play UPS systems, of course, but customers often have very specific wishes. We translate these into a suitable solution, which we then have built.” René explains that UPS systems fulfil an important function within the entire chain.

One of the customers is VodafoneZiggo. The presentation during the IT Infra event is introduced by a delegation from VodafoneZiggo. They explain the question, after which René takes over and tells how Eurotronic helped VodafoneZiggo solve the imposed restriction on their network connection at one of their network locations.

IT Infrastructure

“We have known the IT Infra event for a long time,” says René. What he likes about the event is that there is a lot of thought put into the content of the day. That the evaluations are listened to and that the event brings together an interesting group of professionals. According to René, the IT Infra event has a clear focus. “The event is mainly aimed at data centers and this of course ties in well with our emergency power solutions. Data centers always use a UPS system.”

A stumbling block in the current era is grid congestion. The elephant in the room that we cannot possibly ignore. Companies and institutions suffer greatly from this because it imposes restrictions on their energy demand. “You simply no longer get any power,” René summarizes the problem briefly. “And a Peak shaving installation can be an answer to this.” He explains this further in his presentation. Together with VodafoneZiggo, he presents the result based on six months of data.

Come to the IT Infra event on November 20 and meet the pioneers and professionals who work together to improve the performance, scalability and security of IT infrastructure.
