Thanks to the rise of the smartphone, we have all become accustomed to the touchscreen. By touching the screen, swiping across the screen or moving two fingers at the same time, we can perform an infinite number of operating actions. However, the application possibilities of touchscreens go much further than what we are used to from our smartphones. The touchscreen is also making great strides in operating machines and devices outdoors.

Smartphones with a touchscreen have many advantages, but also limitations and reach their limits depending on use – especially in outdoor conditions.

But there are plenty of ways to make touchscreens suitable for use in tough outdoor conditions or harsh environments. To achieve this, a number of factors must be taken into account in the design. Outdoor control panels must be able to withstand various weather conditions, including heavy use and prolonged exposure to sunlight.
