Boom Laboratory supplier sponsors Meppel catering companies with a temporary takeover of sponsorship contracts

Together for Meppel. And not only in good times, but certainly also in bad times. With that thought in mind, director Bertjan Boom of Boom BV has made a special decision. His company takes over existing sponsorship obligations from three Meppel catering companies on a one-off basis.

The idea to help fellow entrepreneurs comes from Martijn Jakobs. The Marketing & Purchasing Manager at Boom BV has been wondering for a while how the laboratory supplier, which has been located in Meppel for more than 125 years, can contribute to society in these strange times of corona. His idea to help other companies so that the city remains 'vibrant' was ultimately embraced by Bertjan Boom. The director/owner of the family business was immediately enthusiastic and Boom BV will take over part of the sponsorship budget of three Meppel catering companies in the coming year.

The catering industry has been hit hard by the corona crisis, including in Meppel. Boom BV has hardly experienced any inconvenience from the corona pandemic and can therefore also do something for others. “We have been fortunate to always be able to continue working and now want to mean something to fellow entrepreneurs. And because wonderful companies like Herberg 't Plein, Eetcafé De Beurs and City café Oasis make an important contribution to Meppel every year by sponsoring various associations and events, we now want to help them. This way, Meppel continues to benefit and cuts both ways.”

Jaap de Boer from Herberg 't Plein, Eduard Konijnenburg from Eetcafé De Beurs and Brigitte van Regteren from Stadscafé Oasis are happy with Boom BV's initiative. They are using Boom BV's gesture to cancel the contracts they have with the Meppel City Run and the football clubs MSC and Alcides to be paid by the laboratory supplier. The three entrepreneurs appreciate the laboratory supplier's plan not only because they themselves are helped, but certainly also the city. “Together we have a responsibility to keep Meppel 'vibrant'. This certainly fits in with that.”

Both Bertjan Boom and the three catering entrepreneurs hope that this will be a good example of this Corporate Social Responsibility, does follow well. That other entrepreneurs who, like Boom BV, have not been inconvenienced by corona, are also following the example of the laboratory supplier. “It would be great if you could help each other in this way. Together for Meppel.”
