The Building Automation industry works together with Brains 4 Buildings in a multi-year, multi-stakeholder program. The projects aim to develop methods to utilize big data from smart meters, building management systems and Internet of Things devices, reduce energy consumption, increase comfort, respond flexibly to user behavior and save on maintenance costs of the installation. A strong consortium of companies, knowledge institutes and universities is participating in this.

The brains are used to develop faster and more efficient models and algorithms for machine learning and artificial intelligence. The project is aimed at utility buildings such as commercial and institutional buildings. The knowledge from the four work areas of this project will also be offered in the program on November 9.

So speaks Dr. Rick Kramer from TU Eindhoven about the integration of human needs (comfort and health) in building automation through artificial intelligence. To effectively address the dynamic nature of human needs, current research therefore focuses on innovative (personal) climate conditioning concepts and integrating user feedback with smart Building Automation.

Looking to the future of artificial intelligence, it will be crucial to develop models that understand (dynamic) user needs and can communicate with building automation platforms.
