NEW LOVATO ELECTRIC COMPACT FREQUENCY CONTROLS SERIES VT1

Simple, compact and versatile, the VT1 variable speed drives are THE solution for countless industrial and service applications. Designed to control three-phase motors, they are ideal for controlling pumps, fans and air conditioning systems, packaging machines, conveyors, automatic doors and many other applications. Their extremely compact size makes them particularly suitable for installation in electrical enclosures and machines with limited space available.

The new VT1 series frequency inverters are equipped with:

1-phase input 200 … 240VAC 50 / 60Hz

3-phase output 0 … 240VAC 0 .. 599Hz

Equipped with a front-mounted RS485 port for remote control and monitoring by supervisory systems or a PLC/HMI controller. They support the widely used Modbus-RTU industrial communication protocol and BACnet, which is typically used in building management and HVAC applications.

The VT1 series inverters offer a variety of motor control modes, making them highly adaptable to a wide range of load control applications. These include V/F linear mode, used for common applications such as conveyors and assembly machines, quadratic control, typically used for controlling pumps and fans, and sensorless vector control, which offers optimum performance at low frequencies and for applications with highly dynamic speed variation.

For applications with special requirements, it is possible to define a custom multi-point curve or apply a boost to the initial torque output.

The new VT1 inverters can be programmed using their front-panel keypad and display. The parameters are divided into functional groups to facilitate user identification, making commissioning and operation fast and user-friendly.

As an alternative to conventional programming using the front-mounted keypad, the VT1 actuator can be programmed remotely from a PC using LOVATO Electric’s VT1X SW software, which allows the user to not only set the unit’s parameters but also its operational status and electrical values.

The VT1 is connected to the PC using the optional VT1X C01 USB cable, while the VT1X SW software can be downloaded for free from www.LOVATO Electric.com

The motor speed can be controlled manually using the potentiometer on the front of the unit, or using other control options such as the unit keypad, an external potentiometer, an analog voltage or current signal, preset frequencies controlled by digital inputs, the RS485 port or automatic PID control. The latter option is a closed loop control system, widely used for controlling pumps and fans, where the inverter automatically controls the motor speed to keep a certain physical value constant (for example pressure, temperature or flow).

There is also an Autorun function (sequencer), which allows the user to program a series of frequency/time cycles consisting of custom pre-programmed settings for frequency, motor direction and step duration.

In terms of hardware, an integrated EMC filter of category C2 (EN61800-3) reduces electromagnetic interference. An external keyboard (VT1X C02) can be installed on the front of the enclosure to program and control the unit remotely.

The new VT1 frequency converters are available in the following power ratings: 0.2, 0.4, 0.75, 1.5 and 2.2 kW.
