Hygiene and safety are particularly important when processing food. The machines and equipment must be developed in such a way that they are easy to clean; dirt pockets must be prevented.
With the Han® F+B, HARTING supplies a series of connectors that have been specially developed for the requirements of the food industry. Slippery surfaces make it more difficult for bacteria to collect. The housings and seals are robust; these protect the internal contacts against spray water and corrosive cleaning agents.
Reduce downtimes
When a machine breaks down, every minute counts. During an outage, operators and service teams are often under enormous stress. During such situations, the power connections to the installation must be easy to handle.

When using the Han® F+B, users do not need to open cable glands on the control box to disconnect field devices. The complex disconnection and reconfiguration of fixed wiring is no longer necessary. That is why installations work faster when plug-in connectors are used. Tool changes and service calls are also handled quickly.
In addition, the Han® F+B series is designed so that it can be inserted and removed easily, safely and quickly. Special grooves in the housing walls ensure that the installer's hands do not slip off the connector.
Continuously in the product and spray zone
The product zone is the area with direct contact with food – this places the highest demands on machines and components. This zone is often kept small to reduce the cleaning effort required. Since electromechanical interfaces interrupt these smooth surfaces, they are mounted outside this zone where possible.
Foodstuffs in the spray zone may come into contact with surrounding components. The material to be processed that has come into contact with the surrounding components may no longer end up in the product flow. Despite all efforts, residues can still remain on the components, which can cause bacteria to collect. Therefore, this area must be cleaned by high-pressure cleaning and chemicals after processing batches. Connectors are practical here, but they must be able to withstand the pressure of the cleaner.

The design of the Han® F+B housing is adapted to the requirements of this zone. The housing has large radii and surfaces in accordance with the guidelines of the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG). Housings and seals protect the connections according to IP69K.
