Efficient data management in electrical engineering can help save time and money during the design phase. New digital services from HARTING offer a lot of freedom in data management for HARTING articles.
Every electrical engineering project involves many individual components and therefore a complete data collection: 2D/3D CAD data, data sheets, type sheets and certificates all part of a common documentation. “Comparatively, more time is spent on the research and collection of articles, the conversion and storage of related documents, than on the design itself,” reports Andreas Wedel, Director of Digital Transformation at HARTING Technology Group. That is why he and his team are working on new features that will simplify data management for HARTING products and solutions.
Wish list and digital notes in the online catalogue
“Many of our customers still swear by the old HARTING catalogues; not so much for nostalgic reasons, but because they placed countless notes and bookmarks in here,” Wedel explains. “We also wanted to make this practical way of working possible in our online catalog.” The option to add items to our wish lists has been available for some time in the HARTING eShop. However, there is a new option to add your own text notes to individual HARTING articles. These notes can be managed via the customer portal myHARTING and are filtered by all items that have been noted.

Save time with data packages
Additional functions should ensure the rapid provision of product data and documents necessary for the documentation of the electrical design. The design sheets, data sheets and type sheets for all individual components often result in hundreds of documents. In the past, the provider had to download these in individual steps (also from HARTING). With the use of the new one data manager you can now obtain product data for up to 50 HARTING items in one step from the HARTING website as a collected data package.

50 different 2D/3D data formats for instant download
So far, HARTING has provided design data for its products in STEP and JT formats. In practice, however, considerably more classifications are used. As a result, many HARTING customers still needed to convert their data into their desired format. With the new MultiCAD download feature, native 2D and 3D data is now available for download in over 50 different formats. This means that HARTING articles can be immediately processed in the desired data format for design purposes. This MultiCAD function is currently available for more than 13,000 items in the HARTING online catalogue.

Customer portal offers many functions
You will find the new functions in the myHARTINGcustomer portal that already provides many e-commerce functions for HARTING customers. “Anyone who is professionally involved with our products and solutions can easily register and use the full myHARTING service for free.” explains Andreas Wedel.
