Moonen Packaging opened a completely new warehouse of 20,000 square meters in Weert in 2020.
Packaging is not directly associated with sustainability. Moonen Packaging would like to see this change and is taking the initiative to do so. The packaging wholesaler from Weert is including more and more packaging in its range that is made from renewable raw materials. “Our aim is for fifty percent of customers to order packaging made from renewable raw materials by 2020. This should have grown to one hundred percent by 2030," says Roland van Bussel, Chief Operating Officer of the packaging wholesaler from Weert.
Of course, ICT could not be left behind in Moonen Packaging's sustainability policy. This task fell to ICT Manager Bart Hanssen. Most of Moonen's applications were moved to the Cloud at the end of 2019. Which turned out to have the necessary advantages when Corona appeared in the Netherlands. A so-called Edge server space was required for the connection to the Cloud. Edge= the point of connectivity between users and Cloud. Naturally, the space had to meet the high availability requirements of the network. Various discussions were held and quotes were requested, All-Rack BV emerged as the best party.
A “Turn Key” server room has been built where the hot and cold zones are completely separated. This allows you to set the outlet temperature higher and the cooling units will perform more efficiently. The cooling of the hardware is achieved by two In-Row cooling units on an inverter basis that are redundantly installed due to the high availability requirement. A UPS installation in which each rack is provided with an A and B power supply via the distributor. Fire detection through aspiration and gas extinguishing system based on an inert gas. This means you can speak of a sustainable server space with high availability.
