'Energy companies are in danger of running into acute financial difficulties'

- Due to the extreme price increases on the energy market, energy companies have to pay billions of euros. This can cause liquidity problems, so insiders warn in the FDIf a major player is in danger of collapsing, the government should intervene to prevent a domino effect.
- The government wants to add 10.7 gigawatts of capacity by 2030 through offshore wind turbines. That is more than a doubling of the current amount. It involves 750 to 800 extra wind turbines, reports the AD.
- The American biotech company Alnylam Pharmaceuticals has sued Pfizer and Moderna. The corona vaccines of both companies are said to infringe patents of Alnylam. It is still unclear how high the demand for damages will be, writes NU.nl.
- The House of Representatives has voted almost unanimously to shorten the statutory payment term. From now on, large companies must pay SME suppliers within thirty days. MKB-Nederland responds with satisfaction.
- The number of foreign students enrolling at Dutch universities and colleges continues to increase. In the 2021/'22 academic year, 1,000 students enrolled according to CBS 115 thousand students from abroad. At universities, 40 percent of first-year students already come from outside the Netherlands.
