The European Commission is doing a call for proposals within the framework of the European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP). EDIP's Industrial Reinforcement Actions (IRA) allocate 122.25 million euros for essential electronic components, including control electronics, electric propulsion electronics, RF and laser modules, multispectral cameras, aerospace electronics, printed circuit boards and IC substrates, lithium-ion polymer batteries, power electronics, and critical semiconductor building blocks.

The explicit mention of PCBs and IC substrates in this call is no coincidence. It is the result of an ongoing, industry-led lobbying campaign to ensure that European policymakers recognize the electronics industry as a 'key' sector.

The Global Electronics Association, has played a central role in those efforts by establishing a coalition of trade associations (including FHI, Federation of Technology Branches) and manufacturers that has submitted its position directly to the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the governments of the Member States.

European electronics manufacturers must now prepare to submit strong proposals in what is expected to be a highly competitive procedure. A tender document containing all details and admission conditions will be published shortly. Additionally, the Global Electronics Association will organize an informative webinar as soon as the tender document is published. Read here the full article from Global Electronics Association.

As soon as more is known about the call and the webinar, we will inform the FHI Industrial Electronics members.
