A fit test is a test to check whether a respirator, a full face or half face mask, fits properly on the face of the person wearing the mask. The person wearing a mask cannot be protected if there are gaps between the face and the mask. Therefore, it is necessary to test the fit before releasing them into contaminated air. A mask must ensure that the wearer's respiratory system is separated from the ambient air. To do this, the mask must be pressed tightly against the face, without any gaps. This ensures efficient sealing on the perimeter of the mask. When the size and shape of the mask fits snugly to the wearer's face, they are better protected in hazardous workplaces.
