The one-and-a-half-meter economy requires an adapted office environment. In the office, everyone must now keep a distance of one and a half meters as standard. At least until there is a vaccine against the coronavirus. How do you give concrete form to this as a company?

The government advice at the moment is to work from home as much as possible for at least this entire year. However, the time will come when some of the staff will return to the office. To shape this, there are a number of measures that a company can take.

First, check whether a protocol has already been drawn up for your sector. This protocol contains regulations to adapt the office 'corona-proof'. It is important to take hygiene measures immediately. Think of sufficient disinfectant hand soap and regularly cleaning frequently used contact surfaces (e.g. door handles).

In addition, it is important to redesign the office so that employees and customers can maintain a distance of 1.5 meters everywhere. This can be done by means of stickers on the floor or transparent splash screens. Do not forget meeting rooms, corridors and the reception.

If the one-and-a-half-meter office environment results in too few workplaces, employees can work in shifts. Or try to invest further in digitalization as a company and work according to the adage: what can be done online, happens online. Think of training new employees.
