APEM, part of the IDEC group, offers 9 new series of emergency stop switches (XA, X6, XN1E/5E, XN4E, EU2B, FB1W, XW, HW and YW) with an exceptionally reduced width and depth. Benefiting from the 3rd generation safety technology (IDEC patents), these new products offer optimum safety well above the corresponding standards of the certification bodies (UL, TUV, ATEX, CE and CCC).

An exceptional breadth and depth

The 9 new series of emergency stop switches cover a wide range of requirements:

  • 3 plunger diameters (30, 40 and 60 mm)
  • 3 plunger colors (yellow, red and gray)
  • Possibly with lighting
  • 3 bore hole diameters (16, 22 and 30 mm)
  • Different connection methods
  • 4 types of zero reset to meet individual market requirements (turn, pull, both or key)
  • Reduced size (equipped with 1 – 4 contacts, NO or NC)

3rd generation security level (IDEC patent)

Because user safety is essential, IDEC two technologies that go beyond today's most stringent standards. Several series are equipped with these innovations: XA, X6, XN1E/5E, XN4E and XW.

With a reversed energy structure, a new technology has revolutionized the way of thinking. With this principle, the relaxed state of the contact corresponds to the safety position (contacts are open, the machine is at a standstill). The spring is not subjected to any load when the plunger is depressed and as a result, all risks of failure are significantly reduced, especially if it turns out that the pushbutton is damaged.

By using the so-called 'Safe Break Action', the emergency stop is put into the safety position (contacts open), when the "On" button is not correctly positioned, damaged or loosened. In this way, risks due to poor installation or damage are completely avoided. This technology is particularly useful for emergency stop switches that are located in a very prominent position or that have a removable contact block and that can be accidentally damaged.

Optional innovations for even more safety

The XN4E series are equipped with padlock interlocking, so that emergency stop switches can be locked in their safety position and machines cannot be restarted while interventions are being carried out. Multiple padlocks can be fitted at the same time. In this way, several people can work simultaneously at different points in the installation in complete safety, without having to worry that one of them can restart the machine before the others have finished their work and removed their padlocks.

An essential product in a wide range of domains

Emergency stop switches are required in virtually all domains: from industry to medical activities transmitted by consumer applications, means of transport, agriculture, etc. The strength of the combined APEM and IDEC offer lies in the ability to propose products that meet the requirements of all these different markets and that benefit from the latest innovations that keep them ahead of the latest standards and certifications.
