There are some things you don't expect to have to write and then they do. On Friday, August 25, 2023, FHI received the sad message that Gerbert-Jan Meijerink would be cremated that day in Nieuw-Vennep.
The sadness is great.
Gerbert-Jan was actively and positively involved on behalf of Mulder-Hardenberg from the start of IT Room Infra (an event for data centers and companies with computer rooms) in 2007.
His character always shone. The twinkle in his eyes, the calm in his actions and the friendly contacts with all kinds of other members of FHI stood out from the start. If you attended his presentation, it might have been about something obvious: How can you properly organize cables?
When you see in practice how chaotic and sloppily the cable management was done, it is very nice that there are people and companies who untangle everything.
So this is about Gerbert-Jan. While some members increased the pressure and others strongly involved the market, he was able to untangle the people around him with a smile. He was curious about you. He thought along with you.
Gerbert-Jan was therefore also in the right place in the IT infrastructure steering group. He knew all sides of the business and knew everyone. Together with the others, he managed to bring a new character to the event and the group of members. Solving problems for customers with technical options is a cooperative process and Gerbert-Jan personified that.
That also has a strongly personal aftertaste. The people around him also enjoyed that character. That's why the message was a shock and that's why a lot of people will miss him.
FHI thanks Gerbert-Jan Meijerink for his major role in the association.
