FHI, Federation of Technology Industries – February 2, 2022
- The RIVM reports 67,045 new positive corona tests on Wednesday. Yet the figures are distorted: 104,000 positive tests from the past 16 days still have to be processed. Occupancy in hospitals is also increasing.
- Inflation rose to 7.6 percent in January compared to the same month a year earlier. That reports CBS. Material shortages and high energy and food prices are the main causes of the high inflation rates.
- Monetary depreciation is also increasing sharply in Belgium: in January the figure stood at 5.1 percent, a new record, according to writes De Tijd.
- Temporarily and under certain conditions, investments in gas and nuclear power stations can receive a green EU label. According to the European Commission, this is necessary because these sources are needed to get rid of highly polluting coal-fired power stations. writes NU.nl.
- The number of new passenger cars sold in the EU in 2021 still consisted mainly of petrol cars. Diesel vehicles are less popular, also in the Netherlands, while the number of electric cars and hybrid models has increased. This is evident from the figures from the trade association ACEA.
