'Inflation of 9.5 percent possible with persistently high energy prices'

- The recovery of the Dutch economy is being hampered by the war in Ukraine. If energy prices remain this high, inflation could reach 9.5 percent this year reports RTL News based on expectations of the Dutch Central Bank.
- The British central bank has again raised interest rates. The interest rate now amounts to 0.75 percent, writes the FD. The increase would take into account inflation, which could amount to 8 percent in April.
- In February, 719,465 new cars were sold in the European Union. That is a decrease of almost 7 percent, reports the car industry association ACEA. The chip shortage in particular would explain the low sales.
- In the past three months, the number of unemployed has fallen by an average of eight thousand per month, reports CBS. This brought the total number of unemployed to 336 thousand in February. This is the lowest level since 2003.
- The announced reduction in excise duties on fuels will also apply to LPG and LNG. That writes NU.nl. The reductions will take effect on April 1.
