Cabinet extends corona measures until April 28
The government has extended the existing measures in place to limit the spread of the coronavirus until Tuesday, April 28. Events and gatherings that require a permit will remain prohibited until June 1.
The advice to work from home as much as possible remains, as does the advice to keep a distance of 1.5 meters. The practice of contact professions, such as masseurs and hairdressers, also remains prohibited. Sports facilities, catering and childcare, among others, will remain closed until April 28. In any case, schools will remain closed until after the May holidays.
By April 21 at the latest, the cabinet will consider whether there will be another extension of the existing measures. Rutte did say during his press conference on Tuesday evening that the Netherlands will 'not suddenly return to the normal situation' after April 28.
According to the government, the extension is necessary in the fight against the coronavirus. The government believes that the extension helps to protect vulnerable groups and ensure that healthcare providers and hospitals can cope with the pressure.
